Hulme Case Feeder Instructions/Troubleshooting

Does anyone have instructions or troubleshooting tips on the Hulme case feeder assembly? I am starting to have 45 acp cases that don't always snap completely into the shellholder. This happens intermittently now but never did it before. The feeder bar seems to move pretty freely. How do you take this apart?

Star Universal Value?

There is no rust or sign of wear on the machine. With the exception of the safety has some marks from hitting it. And the back of the powder slide housing has a small grove from the spring wearing on it. It is like new in all respects. It is complete with the Hulme case feeder and 3 feed tubes. I am still using the original decapping pin.

Procedure: 1) Grind the hex head of the 4 inch bolt to fit the hex opening in the Lee Collator black plastic base. 2) Measure and mark the location of the 4 inch bolt onto the aluminum adaptor for the Hulme feeder. I centered the case openings and marked the center of the hole in the hex opening onto the aluminum base.

Infrequently, a case would occasionally be turned over and feed mouth first, jamming the works. While difficult to describe, now it appears there is excessive pressure on the case feeder's spring when a case is pushed into the shell plate. It causes frequent jams. Is there a way to make adjustments to the case feeder to make it feed smoothly?

Case feeder tubes, replacement

The slot in the metal case drop tube does work. I obtained a homemade case feeder with a Star a couple of years ago that was using a piece of copper tubing for the drop tube on the case collator. I believe the copper tubing is 1/2 inch water pipe. Anyaway it had a slot filed into the tube about half the length.

Lee Case Collator adapted to Star Hulme Case Feeder.

The bolt holds the Lee collator to the correct height, and the tube aligns onto the Hulme feeder, allowing cases to drop cleanly into the feeder. This mount retains the multi-tube feeding of the Lee. Hopefully my photos will help explain.

My question is how much do I need to widen the case feeder to allow the 44 and 45 cases to be fed.
